[Editor's note: This word from a number of years ago is still relevant and vital. Sometimes it seems God must be waiting for us to take notice. John]

At the end of 2007, I had a word from the Lord with some urgency attached to it. It was for the men of the church and He said, Sharpen your weapons". As we go into this new year of New Beginnings, the church of Christ needs to realize that it will not be a cake walk. Whenever there is something new, ie. a new baby, a new business, a new home, there is also a lot of work attached to it. So as we anticipate the fulfillment of things God has promised we need to be vigilant, and not relax our prayer stance, but continue in calling those things forth.
I had a picture of Jesus standing beside the throne of the Father interceding for us and saying, Keep going, don't give up, press in. But as I said, the urgency for the men to sharpen their weapons was very strong. The men of God need to stand and fight for their wives, for their children, for their homes, cities and nation, to take the place of priest of their households and do battle in the power of the Holy Spirit. It doesn't matter if you have never done this before, because God Himself will show you how to fight and be victorious. He is the one who trains our hands for war."Sharpen your Weapons".
